I bought this pack to replace the exact same model that I have used daily as a commuter bag for about 8 years. Exactly the right size for phone, small change of clothes, lunch, water bottle, etc... (not big enough for a laptop) that I would run or bike with to the train station several times a week. Used for day hiking, etc... as well. Very sturdy and all straps are fully adjustable. Has shoulder straps that are well padded, has the very important chest and waist straps too. Has compression straps. Has plenty of storage compartments, really the list goes on and on. My other pack finally started having zipper problems after years of daily use, but who can complain for all the use I got out of it. You can tell by the photos that the old pack (green) actually held up really well. Unlike some products that are bought in a similar version years later, this new pack seems to be of the same high-quality as my first one. I'm looking forward to years and many miles of use. Disclaimer-I'm not really a fan of hydration bladders, so I take them out to regain additional storage space and I use water bottles for hydration.Good water pack. Have taken it on many hikes now. 2 flaws - water tube scews on pack and must be attached when filling or all the water comes out, and there is no clip or hook to keep the end of the tube secure on the pack when not using. It tends to flop around if I don't keep it tucked. I can find some kind of clip or clorhes pin to fix.Overall a good economical pack and nice fit. Had an older style 10 + years and it still works but is just getting worn out.I wasn't expecting much when I bought this 2 years ago, but for the price this bag is fantastic. It's the perfect size for me, both fit and capacity, and has been pretty durable. I've used it for two years of frequent day hikes ranging from 4-15 miles. If the 2L bladder isn't enough water it's easy to bring additional water in the side pockets and the multiple pockets are nice for organizing all my stuff. It's also easy to readjust the straps for a comfortable fit based on my clothing and what I'm carrying. I'm a relatively small person (5' 5" and athletic), so I'm not really sure how well this bag will fit someone significantly larger. However, the straps can be readjusted quite large so I think it'd be fine for most people.I often hike in relatively remote areas, so I generally carry extra emergency supplies that I might not actually use. If you know how to pack well, this bag has enough room for things like extra water, layers, extra food, a poncho, some rope, and basic emergency supplies without being a large bag. It's not large enough for backpacking (of course), but it's a good size for day hikes. After frequent use over two years the only thing that I've had to replace so far has been the mouthpiece for the hydration system. You can get a small pack of replacements at Walmart for pretty cheap. So far, the bladder and hose haven't developed any leaks and work quite well. The hose isn't insulated, so if it's below freezing and you're not drinking frequently the water may freeze in the mouthpiece/hose. That's to be expected, though. The zippers and buckles all still work. One of the mesh pockets got torn once, but I sewed it back up. The hydration system is removable, so as long as you clean it and take care of it both the hydration system and the pack are reliable.I feel a little ridiculous being this enthusiastic, but I really like this bag. I've recommended it to multiple friends. If you're looking for a bag for day hiking, this is a good choice.I bought this same pack (in a different color) for myself several years ago, and it is the perfect pack for shorter (several miles) easy to moderate hiking, biking, or just sightseeing. The 2-liter water reservoir is a nice size, and can be used or removed if you prefer to simply bring a water bottle. The pack has separate compartments with zipper, clipped compartment, and mesh pockets for plenty of storage. The straps are wide and padded for comfort, and there is a chest and waist clip to secure and balance the pack for comfortable wear. I bought a second one as a gift because I enjoy my own and have received many compliments on its convenient size, storage, and wear-ability.The backpack is nice, with lots of space for other items. However, I will only occasionally use it, because the process of cleaning the tube/bladder is way to cumbersome.I really like the day pack however it came in a color that was not even an option to order though since I think the person I bought it for will like the color received better than what was ordered I am ok with it. The reason I deducted stars was because the pack is advertised as coming with an included bladder and one was not shipped/included. It is a great pack for the price and if it was for me I would not complain but it is a gift and I now have to go buy a compatible bladder elsewhere. :/Love it! Have used it for day hiking 2 to 3 times a week for three years. It gets taken of and on, crammed into car trunks, dragged through branches, sledding and snowshoeing. It never quits. Three of my kids have these as well and use them often. No complaints at all. It is small enough that you have to consider wisely what you do bring with you. When I am hiking 5-10 miles, I usually have water in the outside pockets only and carry inside a jacket, hat, gloves, first aid kit, camera, snacks, emergency shelter and a repair kit.The side pockets carry 1 liter water bottles each. There is lots of places to strap on extra items as well.If I had one wish, it would be that the waist straps had a small zippered opening for keys etc.
