Our kittens walked right in and made themselves at home when we presented it to them. The carrier is exactly what I was looking for. I'm happy with the size, sturdiness, and ease of setting it up, and breaking it down.Long story short, our cat used to hate the car, but now I think he might actually like it. He doesn’t really meow at home, but on the first cross country drive, he meowed almost the entire time. Not only that — it was extremely loud, to the point that I kept looking back, because I thought something was wrong or he was hurt. That was in a medium dog crate with plenty of room!! Obviously, I was pretty naive about traveling with a cat and totally unprepared for the drive the first time. Just because your cat’s not super finicky, doesn’t mean he/she will behave on a long distance drive!! hahaFast forward to a couple months ago, when we were preparing for the second cross country drive. There were about 7 years of vet appointments in between, which was the only time he would ride in the car, and he did the exact same thing on short trips as the first cross country trip. Naturally, we were really worried that this time wouldn’t be any different. So we decided to address what seemed to be the main causes for his discomfort: 1) carrier not level, 2) no visibility, 3) slippery surface, 4) carrier = stress, 5) ride too bumpy. We figured that to have a relatively low stress drive across the country with our cat, it would likely require some kind of sedative and a comfy carrier. Thankfully, all it took was this carrier with some conditioning and a little creativity when strapping him in.About a month before our trip, we purchased this carrier. We liked it because of all the windows and the extra room in the fold out section. We fed him and played with him in the carrier, and let him come and go in and out as he pleased. Then we started picking him up in it and carrying him around. We took him on three short drives (1-2 miles) before heading across the country the second time, including to the vet and back, so I was really worried he’d still associate the carrier and car with stress. In the car, we situated the carrier on top of a rigid box in the back seat, which propped him up so that he could see out the windows, and provided more stability under the carrier. There are plenty of loops to put the seatbelt through. He didn’t make a peep on the 1-2 mile drives. It didn’t matter if it was day or night, he was just happy to look out the windows, and he could basically see out of the carrier windows to the front, left, or right. The vet prescribed a sedative, just in case, but that was a last resort, and thankfully we never needed it!! He barely made a peep all 36+ hours across the country. Obviously, it’s not a magic carrier, but it played a huge role. I’m positive that he wouldn’t have been content in a different type of carrier. It has tons of windows, plenty of space, a soft surface that he doesn’t slide on, and he can sit upright to watch out the window or curl up in a ball and take a nap.Telling our story so that it might help someone else in the same situation. Even our vet said that she moved cross country with her cats, and the way she described it, they weren’t that content. So we definitely feel lucky to have had such a positive experience, because moving cross country is stressful enough!!Seriously, though, I highly recommend this carrier. He still goes in it to nap, and he has plenty of other places to do that, so he must still really like it.Bag is sturdy my cat has enough room to go on hikes and still be comfortable has cushioned pads on the inside, looks good, zippers are very sturdy so they can't open it.This is my third cat pack. None of them have everything I want but this is so close to perfect! Very well made with excellent quality. I just wish there were more lounge opportunies, like the one side window that zips open - I wish they were both like that. Maybe have the front zip 3/4 of the way down so it can be open without letting kitty slide out. I like to tether her in and open as much as possible so she can experience the world around her! This cat pack is my favorite of the three because of its large size and many vented mesh windows. It is the highest quality of the three and the grab handle on the top is perfect. I wouldn't recommend this for airplane travel because of its sturdiness you might not be able to slouch it for under the seat but that's just my prediction. It's amazing to just take your friend out and about with you! They will travel in style.I was pretty nervous about this purchase since there weren't many reviews, but ended up being very happy with this backpack. This is definitely one of the biggest backpacks out there but it stays sturdy even with a large 16 lb cat inside :). The setup is so secure that when it's all zipped together, it almost feels like it has a built in frame supporting it. The only complaint I have is that the side panels have a lot of material around the zipper area which makes it very hard to zip up- however, it's saving grace is that almost every mesh window can be zipped open, so there's no need to disassemble parts the backpack to get a cat inside (which is the case for some backpacks I have tried). Another thing to watch out for is that the length is not quite 15inches on the inside, it's actually just shy of 14inches, but again, this is a common problem for pet backpacks not being quite as long as advertised. Despite this, it is still the biggest, best cat backpack I have bought. I'm very happy with this purchaseThis backpack is AMAZING!! My cat really likes it and didn't have a problem going in and out of it! The first picture of her in the backpack on the floor was the day I got it!! It is SUPER sturdy, and had PLENTY of room for her to lounge around in! The only thing I would change on it is the safety cord it has in it to latch on to my cats collar. It's not stretchable, and I would have like for it to be so she could stay latched on to the cord and have more room to move with, but I can totally sew a stretchable cord on it so it's no big deal! Other than that this bag is awesome and is totally worth it!I'm not a seamster, but I'm impressed with the sewing. My cat likes to climb all over it, and it holds her chunky 12 lbs. It has removable panels inside that are cleanable, but it just Velcros over a flat bottom. It's not likely for my cat to defecate in it, but I appreciate the feature. The cloth isn't super thick; it's maybe a half centimeter. That's thick enough for my fur baby. Also, the mesh is a rubber/vinyl texture, so it's pretty safe in that my car doesn't like that texture.Easy to clean out with removable pad but can not be thrown in washing machine with board in it. Its sturdy, comfortable to wear, great capacity for a little larger cat like mine. We have another backpack carrier from another brand and it to small for my larger cat. Love how it can be expanded for longer trips. Our cat loves it and uses even when we are not traveling. Breathable screen for summer weather and ability close them for cooler weather.
